Students meet face to face with the instructor in REAL-TIME and participate in a "web meeting". Web meetings are meetings (classes, in this case) that occur via the internet and have a wide variety of features. A certified, experienced teacher presents material and guides students through a traditional math curriculum. This virtual classroom functions similarly to a normal classroom.

Students and the teacher log in to a third party company that hosts the web meetings. Everything is "browser-based" which means that nothing needs to be downloaded and installed in order to participate. Please see the "Requirements" tab for more details. Information about entering the online sessions will be given after registration.

The term "online learning" means a variety of things. Often, it does not mean regular interaction with a live teacher. LIVE Online Math provides audio, video, chat, and an interactive whiteboard in order to teach students math. This level of interaction with the teacher and other students parallels the type of interaction experienced in a normal classroom.

It is the "LIVE" part that separates LIVE Online Math from its competitors. You cannot ask questions of an instructional video or a book. Even chatting with or emailing a teacher is second-best to being able to talk through and see a problem with a live teacher helping at each step along the way. Other online learning options lack accountability. LIVE Online Math keeps students engaged during the sessions through regular teacher-student interaction. Finally, using traditional tests and quizzes coupled with informal observations of student performance during class, gives teachers a better sense of student progress.
